Solitude Pavilion

Location: Nicosia, Cyprus
Total area: 140 sqm
Design: 2019-2020
Program: private family pavilion

The Solitude Pavilion was designed for the purpose of a weekend retreat and consequently to take full advantage of its natural tranquil surroundings on the private site. The glass pavilion is gently placed on the land, raised off the ground with wide steps slowly transcending almost effortlessly off the ground, as if they are floating up to the entrance.

Aside from walls in the South-West part of the pavilion enclosing the bathroom area, the floor plan is completely open exploiting true minimalism. Floor-to-ceiling windows enclose the rest of the pavilion, opening up to the landscape around it.

The pavilion’s interior is juxtaposed by a reflecting pool, located in the North-West side, which allows for light to filter through the interior volume as well as illuminate the travertine flooring. The Pavilion’s elegance and sleek lines establish a place of solitude and reflection.
